From the desk of Senior Administrative Officer

On behalf of the staff and Board of the Sewa Bhawan Hospital Society, I thank you all for the support and collaboration as we complete 90 years of committed service. This year has been exceptional in many ways. As one of the highly regarded referral centers in Mahasamund , we deliver outstanding care and treatment for individual patients. We provided care to more than 2809 Inpatients and 9057 outpatient appointments were held, an increase of approx. 2000 compared with the previous year.

But it’s not only the numbers that tell the story. Each year, our staff dedicate themselves to saving thousands of lives, improving health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals and communities. We thank them for their dedication and commitment to providing safe and better quality within this rural setup. We also extend a heartfelt thanks to each and every one of our volunteers who selflessly gave their time and support throughout the year. Through helping our patients with prayer support, joining us in our follow up visits they surely touched the lives of many. In spite of challenges faced due to changes in medical team we could provide an uninterrupted service to the community.

Financial year 2017-18 statistics shows a steady growth in Inpatient , Outpatients and Diagnostics. By the year end a new medical team under the supervision of Dr. Raj Dayal Singh took charge as Dr. Selvams completed their term. By the middle of the year Dr. Vinod Joshua John and Dr. Tanooja were transferred to Champa Christian Hospital.

While we have made progress on statistics, we continue to have challenges around staffing. Another area of particular concern is the need of good infrastructure , clinical and other equipment needs of the hospital. The hospital estimates that an annual operational expenses of approximately 2.5 cr is required simply to stand still.

Efforts were made to create a better physical environment for patients and staff .Renovated the dharamshala (for patient relatives) and Kitchen, CSSD, Laundry, modified and converted three buildings to quarters. A good amount was spent for securing ailing buildings and maintaining the 30 Acre campus. We thank all our supporters specially Dr. Vinod Joshua , his family for the contribution towards building a permanent stage. SBH Society continue to influence the community through various initiatives. Financial year 2017-18, our main focus was on Palliative care, Mental Health, RCH, NCDs, Evangelism and Livelihood programs. We Teamed with the Government PHCs started immunization programme and Antenatal check ups well conducted where high risk mothers are screened.

On a personal note, I am grateful to have gained the opportunity to serve this mission hospital. This year has been a stimulating learning experience that has greatly increased my respect for the quality and commitment of those who work in Missions-specially Rural health sector. I would like to thank the dedicated staff of SBH for their inspiring team spirit, their hard work over the year, and their continued efforts to deliver the best possible service to our patients.

Our special gratitude to Dr. Joshua Sunil Gokavi, EHA- Executive Director, Dr. Deepak Singh, Regional Director , all other EHA leaders , fellow units and all our stake holders who supported us in various ways.
